BELIEVE – Part 1 of 3

Mark 5:36 “
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” (NKJV)

Have you ever been in a moment where you didn’t believe that God was with you or for you?  Have seen yourself in a situation where you questioned if God cared about you?  If you have, you are probably not alone as every person may struggle with these thoughts that battle their minds from time to time.  Fear is a result of thoughts being outside the will of God.  This is why Jesus said, “Do no be afraid; only believe”.

Jesus could see the fear on the people he was speaking to at the moment and counter-acted that fear with something else.  That something else is called – FAITH!  Faith is used in many contexts but I would simplify the meaning to one thing – believe in God, believe in His word, believe in the Holy Spirit, believe in JESUS!

Let’s remember 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  The enemy fights us through fear and but the Bible says in 2 Cor 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”  Our weapon rests in God – the power of BELIEVE.  You can’t truly believe without faith.  Faith is the power behind believe.  When we believe like Jesus commanded we see the power and fruit of faith in action.

In the next blog of this series we will look at the power of BELIEVE through Moses and the children of Israel.  When God calls us he doesn’t reveal the entire path or challenges that come with the journey.  But through the power of faith, we can overcome any and all things!

Are you blessed?

Praying for you!

Desire to Reality…How Do We Do It?

“…ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

IMG_4260Have you ever thought about how God could use you to reach people? Have you ever wondered about what it would take to feed people who are hungry or clothe people who have no clothes? Have you ever had a desire in your heart but were confused on how to pursue it? I know that I have and I want to share a couple of things today to inspire you and challenge you to stretch out your faith and watch God do miracles THROUGH you!

During our recent Hope For Ireland campaign we had the desire to do just this. As God connected me with a great local ministry in the city of Dublin, we began to strategize a way to feed, clothe, pray and preach the gospel to those who have nothing. Through planning, raising money, coordination and recruiting volunteers we watched an amazing thing take place. As the appeal was given to churches we saw thousands of pieces of clothing get collected in just 3-4 weeks. Local cooks andIMG_4220 volunteers were gathered and a portable kitchen was rented to cook food for these wonderful people on the street that have so little. The priest of the Anglican Church of Ireland offered their historic cathedral building to us for the outreach and the dreams and planning became a reality as so many came through the doors. As they ate their food I had the incredible opportunity to preach Jesus and so many responded to the challenge of following Christ. Our team had so many one on one interactions and truly the Holy Spirit was powerfully at work in all of our conversations. These people were so blessed and many were eternally impacted and will never be the same!

So…how do YOU stretch out YOUR faith to do the things God is putting in your heart? It wasn’t long ago my wife Teri and I had the desire to coordinate and help people like this. We were pressed into the same challenge every good-hearted Christian is put into…HOW! How do you turn desire into reality?

The Bible says in Matthew 14:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

We can see here Jesus clearly starts us off with 2 things to turn desire into reality:

1 – Abiding in Him. When we connect with Jesus through prayer, He will show us exactly how to do something – Especially for HIS KINGDOM. He wants you to do these things but He wants to give you the plan on how to do it. Many times we may feel that in order to accomplish these tasks we have to do them on our own. Other times we may feel we should put the burden on our pastor/church to do all the work. I feel it is an absolute mixture of both concepts, however what I am getting at with this point is when you abide in Him, the Holy Spirit will guide you and show you what and how to do it! Awesome!

2 – Abiding in His Word. If you want to turn a desire into reality, read in the word about what you want to do. Sometimes our desires are fleshly and need pruning to be in alignment with God’s will. Other times we may need guidance as to what our true desires really are before we begin to step forth with action. If you abide in His word, you will allow the living word of God to speak to your spirit and bring balance to every thought you are having.

So that’s the 1st lesson. Abide in Him through prayer and reading of the word. It is so simple yet most people don’t do this and get so frustrated when they ask God for the desires of their heart. If we will humble ourselves we can hone our desires to match and be the desires of our father’s heart in Heaven.

I pray you take this simple word and take the challenge! Let the Holy Spirit guide you and be amazed at how God will use YOU. AMEN!

Are you blessed? Tell me:)

Praying for you,

Pastor Aaron
