Why is today called “Good?” – Your Destiny is Waiting!

Easter is a special time of year.  It’s a time of year when kids are excited to get baskets full of candy, families gather together for a meal and many come together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Without the resurrection, Christianity would be as any other religion, but because of the resurrection, followers of Christ live and breath and move through a living Jesus who dwells in Heaven!

How awesome to think Jesus is alive right now and is in operation through the Holy Spirit on the earth today! WOW! But the greatest part about this season may be the Friday before Easter as we acknowledge that no man TOOK Jesus’ life, He GAVE it.

Good Friday is only “good” because Jesus humbled himself in obedience to his calling.  If Jesus would have acted like so many of us may have in his moment of captivity, the world would have been doomed to life without salvation.  But He is the savior!  It wasn’t Christ’s dying on the cross through crucifixion that was the beginning of our salvation but it was in the olive grove called Gethsemane where Jesus humbled his heart with full realization that He had the power to overcome any captor.

Read this:

Matthew 26:51-54 “51 But one of the men with Jesus pulled out his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, slashing off his ear. 52 “Put away your sword,” Jesus told him. “Those who use the sword will die by the sword. 53 Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? 54 But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”

What would you have done if you were in Jesus’ shoes?  Imagine having a group of armed soldiers coming to take you captive, you have done nothing wrong and you know if they take you, you will surely die.  I don’t know about you but I would have quickly looked at my options of escape.  I would have come to the conclusion of 2 options.  I could turn around and run for my life or I could grab a weapon and fight to the death.  Now imagine that you had a third option, you could simply say a word and thousands of armed angels would descend upon your transgressors and obliterate them right in front of you.  In panic maybe you or I would have utilized this option but I am SO thankful that Christ did!

He knew his destiny, his calling, his purpose and He knew that this moment, no matter how hard it seemed, was a part of everything He was destined for.  This is the only way he so calmly went with his captors and did not destroy them, HE KNEW HIS CALLING!

What an incredible thing for you and I to think about.  If we know our destiny and can understand our calling in a deeper way, maybe the things that we “fight” in our life we wouldn’t.  Maybe we would calm down and freely go along with the challenge.

Oh how grateful I am that Jesus did not fight but instead freely give His life for it was the beginning of salvation of mankind for all who believe.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus on a real, personal level, I encourage to reach out to Him!  He is ALIVE and He died so you don’t have to.  I encourage you to pray a simple prayer that changed my life forever and can do the same for you if you desire it to.  Pray these words from your heart to God and God will hear you! Are you ready?

Say this, “Dear heavenly Father, I know that you have a plan for my life, because You created me and You loved me.  You created heaven to be my eternal home with You.  Forgive me of all my sins, failures, and my past.  I believe the blood of Your Son, Jesus, cleanses me from all my sin.  I repent of my sins and invite You, Jesus, to come into my heart and be my personal Savior.  Thank you for saving me according to what the Bible tells me – “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” [Romans 10:13] AMEN”

If you prayed this prayer, God heard you! Tell me about it! Tell a pastor about it! Get connected to a good church and go get a Bible – Let God lead your life – You will never be the same!

Go to church this Sunday, join the celebration of a real, living God – Jesus!
